We spent the day with 275 other kids and their families at the annual Home School Track Meet. It was a great day, if a little windy. The kids had great fun and I’m the only one who came home with a sunburn. Apparently my self-application of the sunscreen wasn’t quite accurate.
Samuel ran in the 25M, 50M, 100M, and 200M races. He also participated in the softball throw, the long jump and the obstacle course. He did a good job of staying with his group of 5-6 year olds, though we were reminded once again just how high-energy he is—a fact that was confirmed by his group leaders. {{Sigh}}
Ellie also participated in every event offered her age group—the 50M, 100M, 200M, and 400M races; the softball throw, the obstacle course and the long jump. She was upset that her group didn’t run the 1600M. We found out later she could have joined the older girls. We might have to do that next year.
Abby ran the 100M and 200M races and decided she was done running for the day. She did participate in the obstacle course and long jump. Her age group also was able to compete in high jump and shot put. She had much more fun with the field events.
Noah, being the laid-back guy that he his, enjoyed watching everyone—even if that meant spending a lot of time in the stroller today.
It was a fun day for all.
