Abby did not run as well as she would have liked. She came to the last few yards, saw from the clock she would not finish in the time she wanted, so walked to the finish line. There are no official results--just a time clock running at the start/finish. I think she ran somewhere around a 12:50.
Ellie, who has more of a drive to run, ran a 9:45. Not bad, considering she didn't have dinner the night before (long story) and had to stand around for 2 hours waiting for her heat. She went straight from the race to gymnastics. She was fading by the end of the morning. This morning was the Platte River Team Triathalon. This is the 7th time Jaaon's run it, but the second with his partner, Todd. This is a fun race--even to watch. The race starts at the Strategic Air and Space Museum with Jason running just over 5.5 miles. Then the two of them canoe together about 7 miles down the Platte River. Then Todd takes over with a 12-mile bike back to the Museum. They came in fourth again this year. The canoe is always a challenge. They went out last week and found a full river with no sandbar troubles. They were amazed at how much the river had changed in one week. After the race, we enjoyed lunch in the restoration hangar and some time at the museum before heading home for afternoon naps. It will feel good to stay home tomorrow.
